Welcome to Euro Star Goalkeeper Academy

 

ESGA was founded in 2004 by Director John Moreira and was inspired by the work of non other than friend and mentor Dan Gaspar, former Portugal National Team Goalkeeper Coach and owner of Star Goalkeeper Academy.

 

Our main objective at ESGA is to help every goalkeeper regardless of age, gender and level of experience to be the BEST keeper they can be. Our staff have been taught and take great pride in encouraging, motivating and supporting our young athletes as they develop through the program.

 

To be the BEST you must learn from the BEST, that is why for over the past 10 years Coach John Moreira has travelled to different parts of the world studying the art of Goalkeeping with some of the BEST Goalkeeper Coaches and Clubs in Europe and South America. Our experiences has taken us to Portugal and Benfica's Academy, Argentina and the Youth Development programs, Italy and observing Roma's and Agropoli youth system. As well as Spain and Colemenar's Youth Programs, Bermuda National Academy Programs and the United States ODP.

 

In 2006, the USSF (United States Soccer Federation) implemented the National Goalkeeper License in Carson, California. Coach John was the 1st Canadian to take the course and successfully complete it. Prior to this, Coach Moreira also completed the USSF National B License in 2005 and in 2006 the USSF National A License - North America's highest Coaching License. Along with the USSF credentials, he also holds the NSCAA Regional and State certification. The staff at ESGA has learned from some of the very best Coaches world wide. We have had the privilege of learning from Coach Dan Gaspar Former World Cup Coach, Portugal Coach and Roberto Navajas of Real Sociedad of Spain's La Liga, Phil Wheddon - US Men's and Women's National GK Coach, and soon to be Adrian Tucker of Swansea City AFC in the English Premier League. Also Special guests Jose Moreira - former Benfica Keeper, Nuno Santos - former Pro Keeper, and Craig Forrest - former Pro keeper.

 

The Staff is the heartbeat of Euro Star Goalkeeper Academy. We believe that the balance of personalities and experience is the TRUE VALUE of the program.
